A Boy and a Tree Publications presents an audiobook musical called Charlotte's Humble Pie. With a stunning cast of voice actors and singers - story and songs - this is sure to delight listeners young and old. Read on to see what happens to Princess Charlotte.

King Mortimer and Queen Millicent are at their wits’ end. It’s time their daughter, Charlotte, chose a husband, and things are not going well. It seems that although they have tried to give Charlotte a good upbringing, their doting
has led the princess to develop a very haughty attitude about her place in the world. Thus, she is unwilling to choose a husband from a cast of suitors who are “too tall, too short, too fat, too poor...” to be worthy of her self-proclaimed
greatness. Her father, the King, is so frustrated with Charlotte’s snobbery that he threatens to marry her off to the next poor beggar who comes along.
One of the suitors, King Xavier, also known as King Thrushbeard because of his long beard, pointed like a thrush’s beak, is smitten with princess Charlotte, but not with her spoiled attitude. He decides that with a careful disguise
and a bit of magic, he will devise a plan not only to woo the princess, but to teach her a lesson in love without judgement. Thrushbeard appears at the castle as a beggar/minstrel. Making good on his promise, King Mortimer, with the support of Queen Millicent, commands Charlotte to marry Thrushbeard, and sends her off to be with him. It is a hard life outside of the castle, and Charlotte learns that she is lacking in many survival skills. She finds that she must rely on others, namely Thrushbeard, for her care, and that she must treat others with caring and respect, no matter what their position in life, because you may, someday, find yourself on the other end of the sword, as she has. However, just when Charlotte is verging on despair, Thrushbeard reveals his true identity, and he asks the newly humbled Charlotte to marry him. They wed, and Charlotte is reunited with her parents for the happy occasion. All is well.
